Welsh Slate Barrowden

Situated in the stunning Rutland village of Barrowden, this attractive 1860’s home required its Blue slate roof re-slating.

Once the roof had been stripped back to the rafters, we boarded out the attic space for the customer, making the roof space a safe storage space. A New felt membrane and batten were laid in preparation for the slates. About half the existing slates were able to be re-used, along with additional reclaimed blue slates, sourced by us, to complete the roof.

New code 5 lead flashings were added to the chimneys, setting off their attractive pointed crown chimney pot design. The barge boards on the verge were replaced and painted with three coats of Sadolin paint.
