Greys Artstone Cotsway Heritage Slate
Re-slating a Collyweston Slate roof with Greys Cotsway Artstone Slate roof tiles is sometimes feasible and offers a more affordable option. These tiles closely resemble Collyweston Slate, providing an authentic look. However, it’s important to note that you might need permission to make this substitution, depending on the location, listed status, and conservation area regulations.
A Perfect Heritage Alternative
Bradstone Cotswold slates are visually authentic, durable, and cost-effective. When you use Conservation slates, the original Collyweston will be reused on other historic buildings. This process ensures a fresh supply of reclaimed slate for repairs and maintenance.
Aggregate Industries has carefully crafted these slates to imitate the characteristics of natural stone. At the same time, meeting the demands of conservation planning.
Although Cotswold slates are an excellent Collyweston substitution, you may need permission from the relevant authorities before work can proceed

Why Use Greys Cotsway Heritage Slate
The Greys Cotsway Heritage slates are, like Collyweston, designed to diminish in courses, and are 20% lighter than natural roofing stone. The Cotsway Heritage slates are crafted from moulds of original natural stones, to give the uneven effect of stone – rather than a polished finish. The Cotsway slate was designed to replace Cotswold slate and we feel it is the closest to the appearance of Collyweston slates, although Greys do have other colour options available.
Greys slates have been tested for durability, colour, strength, fire and freeze thaw. We are pleased to have a new product that we have worked with and meets our stringent material requirements for our valued customers.
See The Finished Results
As you can see from the before and after pictures for this home, the Collyweston slate has been replaced with Greys Cotsway Heritage slate and the result is impressive.
The Greys Artstone Cotsway Heritage Slate Roofing Process
Once the relevant permissions have been granted (where applicable) and the quotation accepted to complete the work, we place the order for the Greys Artstone slates for your roof.
Each order of Greys Cotsway Heritage slate is individual and specific to your roof. We generally request a deposit for the slates at this point as they are made to order. Once we have a delivery date, we schedule a start date for the roofing work.
While we install your new Greys Artstone Cotsway slate roof we can quote, supply, and install new guttering/rainwater goods to your home. Our preferred guttering brand is Alutech and is available in cast iron effect, deep-flow and traditional styles. The guttering is powder coated, reducing the need for future painting and maintenance, and there is a full range of attractive hoppers available.
